Unga Fountain Mask

Made for a client who needed a fountain that would spill out into a large barrel in his tiki bar. The mouth of this mask is cut to fit a plastic trough that attaches to the back of the mask. The trough fills with water and spills out the mouth. The eye sockets were carved out so that lights could be inserted from the back of the mask. The dim bulbs radiated color from behind the eyelids giving it that sinister tiki look. The final touch was the lauhala covered bamboo shield that concealed the fountain apparatus. All coated in spar varnish to hold up next to the water.

Mask Dimensions: 9"w x 20"h

Flora and Fauna

Another frame created for a Flounder original painting on burlap. It features a floral and plant life theme making the most of tropical imagery. Ferns, Monsterra, Bird of Paradise, and Plumeria add the soft touch to this Hawaiian Ku painting. The larger plumeria at the top is a separate carved piece that lifts out of the frame for deeper relief.

Tiki Room Animatronic Poles

Carved to compliment the small attraction print from the Disneyland Enchanted Tiki Room. The vertical axis on this frame is inspired by the audio animatronic poles that rumble and shout the Hawaiian War Chant during the Tiki Room performance.
